The study of stabilizers for
machine embroidery can be complex and confusing. Change your machine needle after two hours of steady embroidering. Do give your machine a break from embroidering after two hours. You will find less thread breakage and better all around performance. Do remember that different fabrics require different procedures for embroidering. I use 100% cotton thread and fabric for my quilting projects. If you find thread bunching under the hoop (a problem called bird nesting) you may have a bent needle, need lint removed, or a different stabilizer. To resize the pieces after embroidering keep the corners at right angles and leave the stabilizer on the back of the pieces to provide support for the design until you have assembled all the piecing. Consider that all piecing should have ¼ inch seam allowance when creating a quilt project. For
